Counterbalanced Lift Truck F3 Driver Course Content

This Counterbalanced Lift Truck F3 Driver programme is made up of compulsory Knowledge Modules and Practical Skill Modules. In total, the curriculum carries 20 credits, made up of 9 knowledge credits and 11 practical skill credits.

Knowledge Modules

There are six(6) Knowledge Modules in this programme. These modules build the theory needed for safe, efficient, and compliant lift truck operation.

Health, Safety, Risk and Legislation
  • Understand workplace safety laws, hazard identification, and risk control measures. This module builds a strong safety foundation, including first aid, fire prevention, and compliance with lifting machine regulations.
  • Learn environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, and ethical workplace behaviour. This module ensures operators work sustainably while following industry standards.

  • Gain knowledge of lift truck components, attachments, and maintenance practices. It also covers inspection techniques and fault reporting for safe equipment use.

  • Explore operational principles such as load handling, stability, stacking, and safe driving procedures in different work environments.

  • Understand load types, storage methods, and safe handling techniques. This module ensures proper load balancing and capacity management.

  • Develop effective communication skills for workplace coordination, safety reporting, and teamwork in lifting operations.

Practical Skills Modules

There are five Practical Skill Modules in this programme. These modules give learners hands-on operating competence in a lift truck work environment.

Inspect work area and personal protective equipment for safe operations
  • This module trains learners to inspect the work area, identify hazards, recognise safety signs, and select suitable PPE. As a result, learners start every task with stronger safety awareness and better risk control.

  • This module focuses on visual checks, operational inspections, component awareness, and reporting faults or defects. In addition, learners practise lock-out and handover procedures before unsafe equipment is used.

  • This module builds core driving and operating skill. Learners practise moving forward and backward, navigating routes, clearing obstructions, stacking and storing loads, maintaining centre of gravity, and completing handover documentation.

  • This module teaches safe refuelling or energising practices. Learners identify the correct area, spot hazards, use required resources such as spill kits and extinguishers, and follow correct procedures based on fuel or propulsion type.

  • This module develops correct end-of-task practice. Learners are trained to secure the machine, follow shutdown procedure, and leave the lift truck in a safe, designated area after operation.
