Health, Safety, Risk and Legislation

  • This module focuses on environmental responsibility, energy conservation, sustainable operations, ethical workplace behaviour, and responsible resource management.

  • Learners study the components of pedestrian-controlled lift trucks, machine attachments, maintenance schedules, inspection methods, and fault reporting procedures.

  • This module covers safe operating procedures, manufacturer guidelines, route planning, stacking techniques, load stability, and operational best practices.

  • Learners gain knowledge of different load types, load charts, storage methods, safe working loads, and the principles of calculating and handling materials safely.

  • This module develops effective workplace communication skills, reporting procedures, teamwork, and communication methods used in material handling operations.

Practical Skill Modules

There are Five (5) Practical Skill Modules that provide hands-on workplace experience.

Inspect work area and personal protective equipment for safe operations
  • Learners identify hazards, inspect work areas, recognise safety signs, apply HIRA principles, and correctly use personal protective equipment.

  • This practical module teaches machine inspections, operational checks, mechanical appreciation, basic maintenance, fault reporting, lock-out procedures, and safe handover practices.

  • Learners perform practical driving exercises, route planning, load handling, stacking and de-stacking, maintaining load stability, and completing operational records.

  • This module covers safe refuelling and battery charging procedures, hazard identification, spill prevention, and environmental safety requirements.

  • Learners safely remove loads, lower forks, apply parking procedures, neutralise controls, complete lock-out requirements, and perform proper handover processes.
