Surface Tracked Dozer Course Content

This Surface Tracked Dozer course is made up of Knowledge Modules, Practical Skill Modules, and Work Experience Modules. Together, these components build workplace knowledge, practical operating competence, and construction site readiness. The programme includes 20 credits of knowledge modules, 5 credits of practical skills modules, and 18 credits of work experience modules.

Knowledge Modules

There are Three (3) Knowledge Modules in the Surface Tracked Dozer Operator Course. These modules build the theoretical foundation needed for construction plant operations, safety procedures, equipment understanding, and worksite communication.

Workplace fundamentals
  • This module develops understanding of employment systems, workplace organisation, ethics at work, productivity, teamwork, labour relations, quality systems, and current workplace trends within mining and construction environments.

  • Learners develop basic digital and information handling skills used in construction workplaces. This supports reporting, documentation, communication, and site-based information processes.

  • This module introduces construction site practices, plant activities, worksite preparation, operational requirements, temporary signs, safety procedures, and construction environment awareness.

Practical Skills Modules

There are Two (2) Practical Skills Modules in the Surface Tracked Dozer Operator Course. These modules provide hands-on operator training and practical construction equipment operating skills.

Establish and prepare the work area
  • Learners prepare operational work areas, identify hazards, apply safety measures, and position equipment according to operational and worksite requirements.

  • This module trains learners to operate a surface tracked dozer safely for levelling, spreading, ripping, pushing, and earthmoving activities according to manufacturer specifications.

Workplace Experience Modules

There are Three (3) Work Experience Modules in the Surface Tracked Dozer Operator Course. These modules prepare learners for operational duties and workplace responsibilities in real construction environments.

Participate in the daily start up planning meeting
  • Learners participate in operational planning activities, receive work instructions, discuss hazards, confirm worksite tasks, and prepare for construction activities.

  • This module develops workplace inspection skills. Learners practise conducting equipment inspections, identifying faults, checking warning systems, and reporting maintenance issues.
